Space Telescope Science Institute

Building Description:

Ground was broken for the Steven Muller Building on Auguest 18, 1981, and it was dedicated on June 15, 1983. The building contains the Space Telescope Science Institute, which was set up by NASA and the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy to analyze data from the Hubble Space Telescope. Many scientists who work work there also teach at Johns Hopkins. On June 18, 1990, the building was named after Steven Muller, the university's 10 president, who was instrumental in bringing the institute to Johns Hopkins.
